One of the primary reasons that Cincinnati Honda and Louisville Toyota drivers are so loyal to their brands is because of the outstanding resale values these vehicles hold in the market. Kelly Blue Book recently announced the Best Resale Value Awards for 2009, and the top 10 models are dominated by Honda and Toyota vehicles. Here is the list:
Honda Civic and Civic Hybrid
Honda Fit
MINI Cooper
Scion xB, Scion xD, Scion tC
Toyota Corolla
Toyota Prius
Toyota Yaris
Volkswagen Rabbit
When a smart shopper buys a new or used vehicle, they should be thinking about how well the vehicle holds its resale value. A new vehicle will typically retain thirty five percent of its original value after the first five years from its purchase date. The vehicles in this list are holding more value than this on average, but further, they are desirable to used car buyers because of their reputation for a long life (can drive for many miles) with minimal maintenance. Other factors to consider include having popular colors, automatic transmission, leather interiors, antilock (ABS) brakes, and iPod/MP3 compatibility (which are all desirable features by used car buyers).
Our greater Cincinnati Honda dealers have sold a lot of Honda Civics and Honda Fits in 2009, so we can see first hand that car buyers in Cincy and Northern Kentucky really like these models. Our greater Louisville Toyota Scion dealer - Jeff Wyler Clarksville Toyota Scion, and greater Dayton Toyota dealer - Jeff Wyler Springfield Toyota, has had a big year as well. While the Corolla is a perennial favorite, the Prius and Yaris were big sellers in 2009 (and are expected to repeat in 2010), and the Scion xB, xD, and tC are gaining more popularity each year. NOTE: KBB excluded low volume vehicles and vehicles with a MSRP of $60,000 or higher from consideration.
